To complement of my sales & online marketing experience, I accepted a 6-month mission at Atalan, a Moscow-based web agency. At ATALAN, I learned the internal processes of websites productions (from clients briefs to final online publications). I was in charge not only of improving the general customer relationships and commercial flow, but also to conduct from scratch full internet projects for local and international clients. I had to conduct internet projects, organising teams of Project managers, Designers, Programmers, Webmasters and suppliers in order to deliver client websites, in time and within budget. I was reponsible for the gross margin of projects too.
I value greatly my experience at ATALAN as being a important technical complement to my existing online marketing and sales experience.

Setup and development of new business in Belgium for this French based Computer Value added reseller. I visited hundreds of Belgian hospitals to promote our revolutionary archiving system. In one year I was able to initiate +10s of negotiations and even signed a promising 100 000€ deal with the famous Anderlecht hospital which set the milestone for future deals. In this industry, the sale cycle is over 2 years.

I had to supervise 3 people in the planning and execution of the budget and adapt worldwide product launches for the French market. I was the interface between the sales and the engineers. I also had to localise and manage the online Marketing and e-commerce website (thousands of clients).

It was the start of the internet boom and I decided to be part of it. I won a bid for major internet project called Ordipha, it was a BtoB para pharmaceutical e-commerce website of 1M€, based on an oracle platform. I acted as a chief of project, followed training at Oracle and managed a team of 10 engineers: developers, designers, web architects, database modellers and testers. I successfully delivered the product, on time and on budget. I learned the principles of project management.

The company developed mobile solutions for Large accounts and mid-size enterprises. We managed to launch the first-ever mobile solution allowing brokers to place order on the stock market from anywhere, using a Nokia phone connected to a palm pilot. We sold 100s of them but failed to get large orders from SFR, the largest French GSM operator. We also teamed-up with a major System Integrator to develop an Oracle-integrated mobile solution for the Lyon metropolitan agents. Also developed solutions based on the Symbol mobile platform for stock and inventory management.

I was selected to setup and manage the new company flagship 800sqm superstore located on the Champs-Elysées. I had to recruit, and manage 20 employees, 1 Million € of monthly rotating portfolio, improve sales and margins through segmented offers. One day, Evo group’s President refused my business plan to setup an online store for the group. I was already feeling the new market opportunity…

I Developed from scratch the software offer of Evo Group, a chain of PC superstores in Paris. The concept of PC superstores emerged at that time, and PC HALLE, Evo’s brand name, was the very first one in France. I recruited and trained a team of 6 people, setup the software display of 2 large PC superstores, negotiated and purchased the 1 M€ monthly software stock, supervised sales, advertising, and logistics issues. I was in charge of this business unit which, in return, helped the company grow on their PC solutions sales.

When I graduated, I had several opportunities and I choose Elonex for its human size as well as for the fact that it was one of the most advanced PC constructors operating in Direct Sales, Dell was nowhere near Elonex’s position in Europe. At this time the market was dominated by large indirect PC players like IBM, HP and Compaq. Selling direct to the end-users was a marketing challenge and I was immediately involved in the product ranges and costs definitions, marketing budget allocation, media planning and relation with the press.

The MBA Institute, located in Paris, offers a four-year French-American undergraduate program in international management. The school was founded in 1982 by the IPESUP group, a leading participant in the private-educational sector in France. The MBA Institute’s program is an original melding of an American B.B.A. curriculum and the curriculum of a French undergraduate business school (école de commerce). It consists principally in French, American and international management courses.
